Everyone seems to think that I'm in favor of just leaving Becca with Gus. Which of course I've never said. My problem is not with what they've done, but the attitude (both in the comic and on the forums) everyone is usiing.

It is possible to remove her from Gus's influence and attempt to reform her, but to also dispense with the "Oh you poor girl! This isn't your fault, this is all just your upbringing crap. Now hold still while I weep over how tragic you are.

We can try to make her a better person while still recognizing she is right now a monster. Indeed it's necessary, because the first step in that reform has to be the recognition that whatever her past, the present is her decision and that if she chooses to do evil that is ultimately a reflection of her nature, not Gus's.

Nobody is denying that she's screwed up. But if you're taught that wrong is right, then you're going to be screwed up. Convincing her that she's EVIL isn't going to do any good. You have to show her that what she's been TAUGHT is evil.

As for making her apologize, that's not going to do ANY good. Forcing someone to apologize is forcing them to lie.

We want Butch to better herself. Nobody's denying that she did / attempted an evil thing. But if you want her get fixed, making her a pariah doesn't seem like the way to go. Butch isn't evil. She's just spectacularly screwed up. She may have been on the road to being evil, but Gus set her on that path and didn't give her many options to get off. Or more accurately, he scared her so badly she was afraid to veer from that path. He's raised her to respect strength and aggression while making her certain she's so much weaker than him.

You want them to treat Rebecca like she's a monster just like her father? Why would she choose to better herself if that's what people think of her anyways? It's not like Gus is in any serious way inconvenienced by the suspicions of the pack. But if you treat her like a PERSON, she's not so far gone that she can't be redeemed.

It's like a chronically beaten dog. It's afraid of everyone and dangerous. Do you smack it for snapping at you and treat it with fear, or do you try to lure it into trusting you slowly?
