As a former radio professional, I have very specific memories of Paul Harvey. I remember him broadcasting urban legends as fact, I remember him broadcasting racist rants, I remember him pushing news/talk radio from something that used to be a worthwhile, entertaining, informative medium into something that's home only to hate-radio screamers.

Won't miss him. Glad he's dead.

Wow. I never knew-

A) That we had radio professionals amongst our readership. God this is a freaky-diverse crowd of perverts we've attracted.
B) That Paul Harvey is apparently a superhuman douchebag outside of a 15 minute snippet about some guy who founded Parents magazine not having kids-
C) That Paul Harvey had enemies. Seriously?

Well, I was just outta college, the only news guy at the station I was at, and really gung-ho about doing news right. So everything Harvey did seemed designed to make me mad.

But I really can't forgive a guy running a news broadcast who repeats stuff out of Jan Brunvand's "The Choking Doberman" as fact.

Then don't plan on forgiving CNN anytime soon.

And Oprah's convinced there are <9000 penises on her message board.

I think Snopes.com actually mentioned that a purposefully false article they made was reported as fact on cable...

I just think there's lax standards in journalism, if there are any. Look at the hoaxes that were purposefully made in previous generations.
