On reflection, when the Incredible Hulk accidentally demolished the Tendo Dojo, it probably wasn't the smartest thing in the world to grab his leg and attempt a judo throw. Unfortunately, that's exactly what Akane Tendo did... and she ended up carried along for the ride as the Hulk bounded west, across the seas and mountains, until one even more unlucky landing created a new spring in Jyusenkyo, the Pools of Sorrow.
The new spring took its template from its creator, the original Hulk... but its first victim, the new bearer of the Gamma Curse, is Akane Tendo...
