i like our system. you can actually add in a name by write on vote. i am voting for cookie monster in our mayoral race next month. just the idea of having that logged in the local records makes me giggle.

In most places you're only allowed to write in pre-approved candidates. In Texas in particular, writing in "Cookie Monster" in one race would spoil your ballot for ALL races- none of your votes would count.
