Your points are very well made.
Werewolf children are, indeed, a lot more of a handful than human children. That said, though humans are NEVER left alone to babysit werewolf kids, human kids ARE allowed to play with werewolf ones if the human families are in on the secret. Where possible this cross-socialization is generally carried out... and even where it isn't, young werewolf kids are encouraged to participate in family and pack activities.
That said, in every werewolf home kids are HEAVILY indoctrinated that MOST humans can NOT be trusted, and VERY BAD THINGS will happen if they ever tell. As a result there is a very definite gulf between lycanthrope kids and human kids (aside, that is, from those few trusted enough to raise kids with). Whatever remaining tendency there might be to blab gets squashed by the general "isn't that cute" response they get.
And yes, werewolf kids take a lot of energy to raise. Fortunately, werewolves have a lot more energy than humans to apply to the task.
More solitary lycanthropes (ESPECIALLY werebears)... don't tend to socialize all that well. Hal is on the more gregarious end of that scale, for his kind.
