The appearance of Hal, my favorite side character, was well worth the wait.

Does a bear read in the woods?

Slightly late? Still good page I like the reasons given for getting ride of Ms Wynn. Hal's being a bit overly Anti-social though, no reason he couldn't stay a little longer (long enought to shift into Bear-form) and make it clear he'd show up at the end.

A part of me hopes Ms. Wynn turns out to be a primary antagonist.
Why? I like the idea of her and her family being puppetmaster villains who have manipulated the pack and aminal control for years.

I actually wonder how much bigger he gets when he transforms, in part because I imagine that might make it difficult to read depending on the size of his hands, his strength and the relative size and durability of said book. His being a bit anti-social also does sort of make sense, wolves are very social creatures, bears are far less so. Hal actually does intrigue me, if only because I imagine he'd be fun to sit up and argue with on political and social theory. I'm looking forward to seeing how the others react too, after all there might be some run depending on how things go with the rather touchy werefox or Noah trying to woo Sarah.
Then again, I could also see the howl accidentally coming to Hal, maybe with a few of the pack sneaking off for nookie in the forest and a rather irritated Hal, "I'm trying to READ here."

Why do Hal's eyes suddenly have no sclera?

...And thirty minutes later Hal realizes he doesn't have a flashlight.

Now, this is the pic that was meant for last week, which means the one that would have been meant for this week isn't done yet? ::bouncing on edge of chair:::

Honestly, I'm getting quite a bit of a Jerkass vibe from Hal. I know he's a werebear and everything, but still - everyone else is willing to integrate socially with both were and non-were groups, and Hal either just resists or puts in the absolute minimal effort. It's one thing to be a loner; it's another thing to actively push people away.

I just realized something. Is Debbie Wynn in any way inspired from of Spawn?

Given that Hal is, by werebear standards, an gregarious extrovert...
...how the hell does the race propagate itself?!!

As a corollary I imagine that any furniture salesman in a werebear community is likely clued into the secret, or might be a very wealthy individual.
