Is peter is the wolf it?

is it me or does it seem like everything except Peter Is the wolf has slowed down as far as WLP is concerned? With Chocolate Milk Maid coming to the end. Chichi-Chan and milkmaid update pretty infrequently.

Other then the webcomic bit I don't know much about WLP but it just seems like the whole things going under. What Am I missing?

I dunno, it may end up like that. Problem being is shortage of artists, not shortage of projects.

Surely there's plenty of talented artists out there willing to draw really porny stuff. Furaffinity alone has probably hundreds.

The main problem is the revenue stream; there isn't one.

PitW brings in a little money- a very little, even with the book. The other comics, practically none; ads on the Milkmaid site, for instance, bring in about $7 per month at present. Donations for the comics are few and far between: Chichi-chan has one semi-regular donor, and MM and CM don't even have that much.

Most artists want paying, so getting new artists when other artists have to drop out is... very problematic.

It's a shame Peter Is the Wolf isn't more popular/profitable. We really need to promote it more.

No pay site has any need to pay anyone for free sample comics. Older comics, teasers for stuff behind the paywall, etc. will fill that niche nicely.

Nor has any pay site operator- EVER- offered to host any WLP comic or invited any of us to join them.

And it would cost me $1500 plus large monthly fees to start up a subscription site for WLP.

So, no. Instead I'm going to continue to use PitW and WLP's other webcomics as a draw to WLP's websites. I may let Milkmaid and Chichi-chan lapse entirely for lack of readers and try something else instead. And I will push Superboobs Online (now that I'm in the summer con season and have cash flow) and get stuff for sale there (though sales on the first three offerings has been, well, VASTLY disappointing).

Oh- also, I've made the promise that the current WLP webcomics will ALWAYS be available to read for free.

I might do something new for behind a paywall (like, for example, the text stories I'm working on, that get released based on donations), but PitW, etc. stay free. Always.

Have you considered donation incentives like monthly wallpapers? I know you've sent out free merch to donors in the past ('cause I was one) but some smaller incentives could help regular donations. More promotions for the site could help (assuming you can afford them) - I'd downplay the "adult" strips without actually removing them in such promotions, linking the users directly to the general site. This isn't a slight against adult comics - I just think that many new readers are reluctant to visit a site that contains adult only stuff (especially if they're at work, school, a public terminal, paranoid about malware, etc.)

Kris's buisness isn't easy. Its a rough one. So yeah he's got his work cut out for him. Some companys take YEARS before they get growth and expand. So honestly I think its just time and a slow growth. MAybe a comic like Gutters that has diffrent artists each week, Maybe something else like Peter is the Wolf. Part of this should be the love of MAKING the comics, not greed, profit. When you want to tell the story and express it, it shows. When its just bucks to be made. Then its half hearted.

Do they want their buisness to grow. Yes. Does he want to shell out his pride and dignity to do so? Not from what I can tell. He's worked thankless jobs for others. The comics buisness since the net hit is insane and overpopulated. People think its a gold mine. Its not, for ever popular comic there is thousands of failed attempts.

What helps some of them make it? Duration. No one looks back at johnny 2 year comic. They see the ten year, the seven, ect. Rich history and such. And they go "Well shit if its been around this long its got to be a good read." And so they read, and after reading so much they want more. And spread word of mouth and sucess grows.

Telling them to give up as its not making them bank now is like saying bake seeds and eat them instead of planting them and seeing what grows. Full tummy now, hungry later. I know a few of those places and I for one have no intrest in paying for what I can find for free. Not stolen, just free because theres tons of options. The porn is out there my friends. What do I see their comics as? A blast, some porny elements, some comedy, all in all a good time.

Sure we all want them to be sucessful. Heck if I ever won the lotto big I'd invest in the frigging company just to push it afloat. I want it to last a long damn time and wish them every sucess. Just on their terms, not anyone elses.

I tell all the pervs I know about these comics, but honestly i have to say pitw works best because its got the best plot, art, and most developed characters, as well as the fact that bar has a decent following of his own.
