Peter's dad is Walt, not Jack. Walt would -like- to be alpha, but the best he can ever hope for is what he got the night before- a meaningless and brief bit of authority while Jack is busy elsewhere.
Furthermore, Gus has good reason to threaten Peter; Peter's life is in jeopardy, and not just from Gus, at this point.

Hmmmm....
Jean could be: Downstairs watching the Telly; or, Keeping her fingers crossed that Peter comes out all right; or, At the Market, buying canned Oysters for Peter... Or, Practical Wolfette that she is, going to find a step- ladder for Peter. He'll need it.
