Somehow, reading this thread made me think of part of a story from a urban fantasy book.

Man doing the same thing as Gus did to his daughter and had in fact was planning to kill her to keep it silent and move on to the younger daughter. It explained in a flashback of his how he got away with killing the mother to keep her silent many years earlier.

Bunch of the Sidhe find out. They get hold of him, actually go through a whole trial for him and sentence him. Sentence was basicly to put guy in a small section of the Fae realm remodeled to be the place he (repeatedly) did the deed, but scaled so he was the same size as his duaghter in it. A construct was put in that was made scaled to be him in this scenerio....

Length of time he is to be in this realm? The spells will release him from the continuous loop of the event when he is truly sorry for what he has done. In the Fae realm they can keep a mortal alive forever so however long it takes.

You can't blame Butch for not being willing to verify what the pack suspects...

I mean, if they could smell it on her and not take any actions, that means either A)Gus's views on power are right, the pack doesn't have power over him, and thus they can't help her, or B)None of them care enough to stop him.

Considering that 'betraying' Gus would most likely upset him, she might not even be sure the pack WOULD defend her. I mean, we've already established that ending Gus's life is probably out of the question... and it's not like Butch can have a chaperone all the time.

Basically, she's in a nightmarish position where the only people who can help her, for all she knows, simply won't. One of them claims to be willing to, but... that's one of them. If the pack itself says 'nah, she's full of it', then she'd probably be sent right back to Gus. Or the pack could decide she's not worth it: Gus could cause a fair amount of trouble for the pack in legal circles with just a few reports filed up to bigger agencies. Though I don't doubt it'd get caught and stopped... he still presents an enormous risk.

So, this is what Carla knows about Butch. On a side note, Hal could take Gus, but I'd rather see Gus get slapped around by Sarah.

Hadn't really considered that only Carla had smelled it. Still, what I was saying was more to be along what might be going through Becca's mind. Rationalization for why nothing was being done.

Butch is in a nasty place. If she admits the abuse, she reveals that she's weak, which can invite MORE abuse if the pack doesn't provide a defense.

I also appreciate that clarification. Hopefully Becca can stand up to Gus and get the help she needs. Whether Peter and the others get the details is, hopefully, up to her.

Though, I suppose if Gus REALLY wanted to shame her, he could admit it himself, taking even THAT much power from her. Should Butch be ashamed? No, it's not her fault. But heads and hearts don't always follow the same path.

And if he told it to someone like Peter, who couldn't really DO anything about it (I mean, sure, he's a witness, but all Gus has to say is 'Now why would I tell HIM something like that' and you've got a mess on your hands) Becca would have to deal with Peter possibly trying to be sympathetic, which would probably hurt even more, because the closest thing he can say to 'I've been there' would be the reminder that SHE put him there.
