Its more like an artist who doesn't want a tabloid photo affecting your perception of a character.
Remember that last page was introducing a female werewolf hunter who was the only factual basis for Robin Hood's girlfriend Maid Marian. A subtle balance must be placed between the tropes of Faux Action Girl and Yandere to create the proper Action Girl for the series...
...The worst part is that even if we saw the rejects, we wouldn't be able to tell why they were wrong until later in the series. Something is going to happen between these two characters, something that wouldn't work if they were different people. At the end of a movie, it might be acceptable to show a gag reel of bloopers. At the end of a dvd, its becoming common to show behind-the-scenes commentary. But by that point, it doesn't really matter what the rejected panels looked like, does it?
If we are patient, we will see the series as it was meant to be. That said, the audience is made up of people who like monster movies and porno, you can't say "these panels are rated
R" without them being curious. At some con or another, we'll fill you with drinks and get you to describe these panels in detail. Please, for the sake of accuracy, at least be prepared to describe why they were so horrible.
