In that case, the real Peter, rather befuddled by what he did to Sarah through his ignorance and indulgence, has retreated to the woods in shame to live the feral life, so that he can learn maturity, humility, and the ways and wisdom of his ancestors. He got caught when someone saw him in a remote gas station near the forest buying chips and beer.

Actually, this Peter is a clone. That's why the goon-suit crew is trying to recapture him. They want to return him to the original Peter, who is now developing a flying armored suit so he can flght evil and not give away the fact he's a werewolf.
He's also 46 years old, balding, and has a beer belly. The idea was to transplant his brain into this Peter and regain his youth. That's why this version is so...challenged, mentally.
