Now that things have narrowed down quite a bit...
I support Obama in this election. If Hillary Clinton gets the nomination, I may or may not vote for the Republican nominee, depending on circumstances and the existence of independent/third party options. I would MUCH prefer it if Obama got the Democratic nomination...

I'd prefer Obama. Technically, I'd prefer Edwards or Dodd. But if I can't have them, I'll take Obama.
If Hillary gets the nod, I'll vote for her. It's an Anybody But the Republicans year.

Remember? Hell, I VOTED for the guy! Even though it had to be a write-in. (sigh-those were the good old days, as these will be in a few years)
He was a professional comic. Considering what the amateur comics did in the White House in those years, he'd have been much better at the job. Every law he signed would have been a joke...just like the other guys, but he would have delivered it so much better. Just the way he looked was perfect; the slightly sad, somewhat confused look of someone who has grabbed the bull by the tail and is now facing the situation.
Regrettably, there is nothing funny about the procession of clowns running for the President's office this time. They've scraped through the bottom of the barrel, and now all we're getting is the stuff under the barrel...'way under the barrel.

So, do what I've been doing for years: Pick the least damaging of the Candidates, vote for them, and then go throw up. Then get drunk for a week (I wish...)
We seriously need a REAL third party in this country; not an "Axe-grinding conspiracy" or a "Putty-Brain Party" but a real viable third party that starts at State levels and works up to the Presidency through Congressional elections.
Congress is the necessary touchstone, since that way the Party would gain respect and be seen as something other than a collection of angry economists (Libertarian and Constitutional ptys.) or "Pie in the Sky" world-changers ( Socialists, Greens, etc.) Kris's Whigs are a good concept: a party of the Middle-Class that actually IS Middle-Class and not some trial concept financed by some Rich malcontents. Pragmatism would be a good concept, since even Communists had some good ideas now and then, and an added sense that the Constitution is the LAW, not a set of "suggestions" amenable to updating whenever the power-elite feel like it.
Maybe, someday, it'll happen. Otherwise, we're Rome all over again.
