Aftermath [PITW fanfic]

Becca cursed to herself as she put as much distance between herself and the building as possible.
"Sarah!!" she could hear Jean call out in distress behind her, making her slow her pace.
"Peter, we're through."
Exactly the words Becca wanted slip 'n fall to say to Peter. So why did those words bring new tears to her eyes? She ignored everything else that was said and broke out in a flat-out run, headed towards anywhere she would be alone.
'The strong rule the weak.'
Her fathers words rang in her mind. She was stronger then Peter, stronger then Jean, and if she was human, Hazen too. So why was she the weak one now? Why was she running away from all this?
Her thoughts were everywhere but on where she was going, and she missed the man crossing the path she was following. A second later, he was on the ground, with Becca sprawled over him. She was starting to get up when she realized this man was looking straight at her, and she was in wolf form. She jumped of him and watched him raise himself slowly. A big man, but she was a werewolf.
"Sorry, you're going to be the first deadly victim of the park monster," she said softly before lunging at him, her claws going for a strike at the throat... and found her wrist locked in his hand.
"No tooth and claw," he simply said as he released her.
Becca frowned as she crouched, ready to attack him again. She sniffed, smelling the distinct scent of a were, but not a wolf.
"Who are you?" she asked nervously.
"Hal," was the short answer as he looked into her teary eyes, "what's wrong?"
"You wouldn't understand," Becca said angrily as she straightened herself, realizing she was almost naked out in the streets.
It looked like this Hal guy noticed as well, as he took of his coat and held it out to her.
"Really?"
Becca took the coat and put it on, changing herself back to human form in the process. The coat came to her knees, hanging very loose around her.
"Want a coffee?" Hal asked before turning and walking towards the city in the direction he had been going before she knocked herself into him.
Becca looked at him and then at the forest. If she went out there, she would just be thinking about how dead she would soon be when Hazen caught up with her. Maybe this guy could at least keep her mind away.
They were reaching the corner when she felt the ground under her feet.
"Uhm, Hal? I am not wearing shoes, and just got this coat on. I don't want any attention right now."
Hal looked her over and nodded.
"Wait here."
Becca rested her back against the wall, her heartbeat finally calming down. They had been walking in silence for almost ten minutes, and she hadn't been attacked by a massive werewolf yet. Maybe she would live to see the sunrise after all. And this guy, with all his stoic silence, calmed her down as well. He already was bigger then her father when he was human, and she had a hunch he was way bigger when he was in his were shape.
It took him just a few minutes to return with two cups of coffee, and a couple of containers of milk and sugar. He nodded his head towards a baseball field with a couple of benches, and she followed him without question. After sitting down and taking a few sips, he finally spoke again.
"Better?"
Becca nodded and looked up at the sky, the stars hidden by the streetlights.
"Yes, thanks. So, where are you from? Or better, what are you?"
"I'm from Iceland. Bear."
Silence ensued again as both of them sipped the coffee.
"Hal, can I sleep at your place tonight?"
